About stuck

I am a medical school student and my family and I have been below the poverty line for the last 7 years. Right now, we aren't making it. Mostly we just need to cover our bills till January, which hopefully at that point my husband will find a job, and the next dispersement of my student loans will come in.

I knew things would be tight, and that I wouldn't have the luxuries that some of my fellow students have, but we've tried selling what we own to make ends meet. Problem is, nobody's buying anything! Don't know what to do. I've tried to get a job, but with med school, my hours are limited and nobody wants to hire me for when I CAN work.

We applied for assistance, but b/c my husband and I are both students, we don't qualify for anything. Food stamps only cover my son which is not enough to cover a family's food for a month. I am grateful my son is healthy, but he's outgrowing his clothes and I can't get him new shoes or pants. Most of his shirts still fit, he just needs pants and shoes.

I am not sure how this all works. I would ask family for help, but my in-laws got laid off, and my dad is about to get laid off, so I can't ask them. I don't really have an expectation that a complete stranger would help, but if anybody has any ideas/tips about how to make it the next few months, I would be grateful....

Thanks!

Im a good person...Im not one of these women that goes and gets pregnant and cant afford to raise her kid so sits on her butt all day and lives off the state and keeps having kids. I was in a 4 year realtionship and I got pregnant by accident and as soon as I did my b/friend left me. And now he's sitting in Prision. Its really hard being a single mom, but school is what is going to get me out this rut Im in. I cant wait till I finish school and am able to get a decent job. I dont have a car, I hitchhike to school every night if I cant find a ride, I cant find a part-time job...and $150 per month is not nearly enough for diapers and wipes. Im almoast $30,000 in debt. Im looking for some help right now. If theres anyone out there willing to donate some money for my son and I please get ahold of me. Im sure theres alot of people out there doing this right now, but I really need it. I hope this works. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this.

Orientation

Hello, I went to orientation last night. I was so excited and scared (a little) at the same time. I entered the school and signed in and I got more excited and the scary part just melted away. of course orientation is setting ground rules and more paperwork.

I found it amusing that there were so many different ages. As I was driving to school, I wondered if I would be the oldest student and to my surprise I was not. Confort came to me as I looked around the room. I thought to myself, this will be fun. I have a bright future ahead of me and life is good. I said a thank you to the higher power. Although school and life will be stressful, I felt a sense of relief. I am replacing negative stress with positive stress and there is a difference.

The staff spoke to us one by one and introduced themselves. I enjoyed this alot because of thje diverisity. My teacher is a docter from another country and quite funny. The rest very warm and motivating. I truly felt supported and I knew I made a correct decision to go to school.

It was not easy choosing a school. It took a month to visit different schools, research job opportunities and responsibilities of my career choice. You have alot of choices to make in this process and considering a large amount of money you want the best education you can recieve from a school.

I chose MedVance Institute because they offered more and I felt they will really take care of me. They have an excellent placement/graduation rate which is posted on the internet by the State of Tennessee Board of Education. This is very important. High-Tech did not fair so well and Remington College when I interviewed there did not seem to care. They were cold. No energy in the school either.

I start Monday and I pray I will make excellent grades and can hold up to a busy scheldule of school + work + life....

Recap:

Make sure you visit different schools, take the tour.

Get and apply for all the financial aid you can.

You will need a SS card, Driver's License, High School/GED Records (must request your school send your records to the school sealed)

You must be devoted to "YOURSELF". Make sure that family and friends Know that this is "YOUR TIME" and ask for support while you are in school. Limit your calls, vists, events, and ask for help with household chores. Remember! THIS IS YOUR TIME!

About Phyl the Student

As I sat and watched Obama take the oath of the President of the United States of America. I felt an incredible sense of hope. Hope for America, hope for young people hope for my son and hope for a better tomorrow when we as Americans had manners, were good neighbors, loved thy neighbor and always lent a helping hand.

We as Americans have become such a nation of  I’sums and not we’sums. We have forgotten how to care about each other.

I thought, I am about to go back to school, I am going to change my life. I am going to have the opportunity to change others one by one and make a difference in each and everyone I meet. I must set an example. I will give it my all. I will give others my time and spirit.

As Obama spoke about a better tomorrow I wept tears of sorrow of yesteryear, joy and happiness as I felt 20 again about to go to my first demonstration to change the world. I felt triumph that I had made a difference. We fought hard for equality for others. All the world needs is Love went by the way side for awhile and now we as a nation are going to bring it back.

Again, I will be a student, again I will work to change the world, and again I will feel the love and give the love.

This is why I need your info on grants for older women or women in  the health field, so that this 58 year old woman that never gave up can rise again to once more before I pass through this world and make a difference.

I can no longer perform the duties that being a chef demands. I have chosen the medical field to help heal, care and make a warm difference in all people lives and show the youth that will work along side of me the way to really care and teach the values that have been left so far behind.

I hope this will encourage others my age to take that step to a new career. I was dismissed and replace by someone that required less pay. Now, I am unemployed, looking for work and about to go back to school in a week. Being in debt scares me at my age. I lost health insurance which scares me. Being scared is well scary but I must do this. I have no family to help so I must put my big girl panties on and believe in myself and go girl go…

About chirobklyn

I am a chiropractor and suggling to survive. I have been practicing for 12 years. The problem is that a majority of people, only 7 percent, of the population actually go to chiropractor, insurance companies pay very little, and it is a struggle to get paid. I had to sell my house to get out of debt. I have always had an interest in helping people; although getting people well fast does not increase my income. I now going to a osteopathic medical school to fully serve others and continue be in a health profession to serve, as I do now, all type of people poor and wealthy.  I never lost interest in the signficant impact that I can make in people's lives. Actually I always wanted to be a family physican. I was a ER volunteer while in chiropractor school.

The problem, my income is now very low and I still have debts. I need to support or arrange for support for my family while in school. I was planning to work a few hours a week while in school, although even working full time is again a struggle. I am looking for some sort of relief, to support my plans,  and to lessen my 40,000 of debt.

About Jenny5

Hello, I am a medical student who needs help with tuition. I am going onto my third year of medical education, but I need to pay off my previous outstanding balances to continue to study. I accidently stumbled into this website, after in desperation, typing in, "I need money for medical school" in the search slot. I have never asked for help online like this, but I thought to give it a shot after seeing some other sincere people asking for help.

I am not planning to change the world by becoming a doctor, but I do plan to help people that I can being the best I can be in my knowledge and understanding. This is a humbling experience for me to openly ask for help, but I am greatful for this opportuniy. Thank-you and have a pleasant day!

                                                                                    Truly,
